Most unethical and poor customer service ever experienced

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The closing of our home was delayed almost two months. The escrow officer had no explanation whatsoever.

We discovered that it was not closed after almost six weeks when we were trying to pay the final water bill. Water agency would not issue final bill without seeing transfer on auditor site. The paperwork file sent to the county for filing was mixed with other closing documents not pertaining to our property and sent back to Barristers within days. It sat somewhere for almost two months until we discovered the problem when we contacted the county auditor.

The escrow officer at Barristers offered no explanation or apology. Can't believe the ramifications this could have caused legally and with our insurance. Still waiting for water bill refund three months later. Unbelievable that not one person from Barristers reached out even though multiple persons were emailed including their legal counsel.

We actually paid the rider for additional title insurance for problems. Used and abused!

Original review May 21, 2020
I am writing to any person that would ever consider any type of dealings with HOWARD HANNA Real Estate. Whether it be buying, selling, or even worse, WORKING THERE. I was an agent at Howard Hanna Real Estate, i am proud to say i have dodged the bullet and moved on to a more ethical real estate company. For any home sellers, THESE DISGUSTING PIGS hold your home back so one of their agents can sell it so they make more money. They do not introduce your home to the other companies until they see if one of their unethical creatures can sell it "IN HOUSE". BUYERS-HOWARD HANNA agents will steer you to Howard Hanna Listings so the agent can make a little more money, if you sell another company's listing, howard hanna punishes you and takes more of your paycheck, as if what they already take is not enough. The end goal is to obtain both sides of all deals, even if this is not the right house for you as they buyer, they will do everything they can to protect their pocketbook. As far as the core services (Mortgage, Title, Insurance, etc) they WILL push you until they are blue in their face in order to keep every dime that they could find. Their title company fees run SUBSTANTIALLY HIGHER than any other title company in the area. The mortgage company INFLATES THE RATES OF INTEREST, in order to screw the buyer for the NEXT 30 YEARS. I couldn't say enough bad things about this HIDEOUS INSTITUTION. As a former agent of this gross place, i have nothing but bad things to say and i hope it hurts! They treat their agents like we are pieces of TRASH. They suck up 50% of our pay, they have the worst commission structure in town and they brain wash you into thinking you need their name to survive. They think they are the 2nd coming of Jesus. They charge a ridiculous "E-AGENT" fee of $290 on top of all their bogus scams. Then, it takes over 3 weeks for them to put one of their stupid signs in someones yard. They are supposed to be some prestigious real estate company, WRONG, its a greedy pig company with owners and managers who could care less!!! Agents are just a number there, you may as well poke holes in our ears and put a bar code tag on us...its like a cattle farm. Then when you ask about the split and why you are getting ripped off, all discussion stops there, BECAUSE THEY GREEDY PILES OF CRAP don't want to talk about how they put the screws to their agents. Most real estate offices are SMART enough to realize that its the AGENTS that keep the company running and bring the sales in, therefore producing the money to keep the doors open. NOT THE HOWARD HANNA COMPANY, they don't care who you are, they will replace you with anyone. They are so hard up for people they will HIRE ANYONE. At Howard Hanna the wonderful realty company, you can be a LYING, UNETHICAL, THIEF, AND CHEAT and THAT'S FINE WITH THEM. As long as those pigs can suck up half of your commission, ANYTHING GOES!!! Thank You for reading this, if this can save 1 buyer or seller the nightmare of their life or stop one agent from making their BIGGEST CAREER MISTAKE EVER, then this was WELL worth my time!! BEWARE OF "HOWARD HANNA

No response from agents and not paying final water/sewer bills

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This company was assigned to us in closing. They sent out a packet of information which we filled out and sent back both by email and regular mail. Our closing got delayed by 2 weeks, and they never reached out to let us know and when we tried to contact them by both email and phone, they never replied. They withheld $200.00 from closing saying it was to pay final water/sewer bills. I sent copies of both final bills by email to Megan Christian in the first week of the month. After checking on the accounts and trying again to reach Megan without success, I ended up paying these bills myself. Now I am waiting on a refund of the withheld $200.00. If anything like the past from them, I'm sure I will not get a response.

Barristers of Ohio is the worst Title Company I have ever worked for in the last 20 years. The employees are now currently getting outsourced by an India Company who came to Pittsburg PA and rented office space and convinced the idiots at Howard Hanna to Hire them for Mortgage and Title Services.

The American employee were forced to train the India Company and then American jobs were lost giving them to this OUTSOURCING COMPANY CALLED VISIONET.

Buyer/Seller bank information, credit reports, ss numbers, DL no, of Ohio, PA, VA, MI, NY, SC. are being sent to this Outsourcing Company in India without their knowledge or consent. In return the India employee getting paid by an American Company and American jobs are being eliminated.

Howard Hanna is currently eliminating more jobs and employees during this Coronavirus epidemic. They have not sanitized the office spaces to the CDC guidelines, as several employees have tested positive and were hospitalized.

No employees were notified until exposed and then no policy was put in place to quarantine and protect the employees.

Employees were not set up at home with computers, unless it was at the expense of the employee themselves.

THIS IS NOT A FAMILY BUSINESS BUT ONLY A CORPORATE GREEDY COMPANY WHO ONLY CARES ABOUT THE BOTTOM LINE.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO BUY OR SELL YOUR HOME- AGENTS HAVE TESTED POSITIVE AS WELL. BE CAREFULL

I enjoyed working at Barristers of Ohio and Howard Hanna. The management, staff and Owners of Barristers of Ohio and Howard Hanna were honest, caring, knowledgeable in dealing with transactions in the Real Estate Market. I have never used this type of forum to express my opinion on any company or service before, but I felt compelled to provide my personnel experience. I would recommend consumers to use Barristers of Ohio in the future. As my career goals have changed, my experience as a former employee of Barristers of Ohio and Howard Hanna far exceeded my expectations. I will miss everyone and want to thank them all for giving me the opportunity to excel in my career. Like

Cindy Kitko of Barristers is unresponsive and very rude. They were disorganized with the closing of our home and unresponsive to emails or calls. We had to have our agent repeatedly contact her for us since she would ignore emails and voicemails. Once I did get a hold of her, she still had no idea who I was. After dealing with hundreds of title agents, this is by far the worse. Just check out the rest of the reviews. I am unsure of how this company stays in business.

Barristers….

Wow, how a title company like this is allowed to work with the public is beyond me. This is our second home so we know how the process works and been through title companies before.

All I can say is I feel so bad for this company how disconnected they are with their clients and for the people like my wife and I that have to deal with this business. Why don’t we start from the beginning. My wife and bought a home and sold a home. We also had a little girl during that time.

When we found out that our house sold in January we were so excited that this house will be finalized way before the baby comes in March. We would be sadly mistake because Barristers would be the title company in charge of finalizing it. It is almost mid-April and is still not finalized. Having a new born can be expensive and now add two homes on top of that.

After our realtor making multiple phone calls just to get some information of why it was taking so long no one could give us or would give us answers. They started ignoring her phone calls (check the phone record Barristers, Kim and Nikki has become very good at it). So, when this started happening I started making phone calls just to figure what is going on. So, I called and got a hold of Kim and Kim said that she would call be back that evening….

Two days passed no phone call. I called the county because again Barristers did not know anything. Pam from the county told me that Barristers has had the information for weeks and they know what is wrong and they have lawyers and professionals there that know what they are doing. So, I called back to Barristers.

Kim said yes, we are figuring this out and Stacie will be giving everyone a call by the end of the day. A week goes by no phone calls and I am still waiting on my phone call. If it was not for my realtor we would never hear from Barrister and they would still be ignoring and lying about calling us back. My realtor has gotten a hold of another title company to educate this title company on what to do.

Also, this title company who we are not even going through has kept us updated. I have yet to receive a phone call from Barristers. Please management look into this you will see that these people have not been communicating and have been ignoring phone calls. The other title company felt bad for hard working people like my wife and I that this could have been fixed months ago if they were better at communicating.

It is so sad that I have to figure out why my title company is so behind from calling the county and calling another title company. Management all I ask is you to look into these three people Kim, Stacie, and Nikki and ask them why they are ignoring phone calls, lying about calling back, and procrastinating on something that is draining my wife’s and I bank account.

They should have paid ME~!

This company was a nightmare from beginning to end. I made them aware of so many errors in their paperwork, they should have paid ME! It was completely ridiculous. They finished with sending me a letter telling me that as soon as I sent in the final water/sewer bill and proof of payment they would refund $200 that was held at closing. As soon as I send the required information it was CRICKETS. I called and called - nothing. Sent an email to Netta and she finally EMAILED me that they in fact did NOT owe us money. Really?? What a coward. Keep the $200 Netta. You're gonna need it when everyone else figures out what I already know - you are incompetant!

MUCH IMPROVEMENT NEEDED!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
As a former realtor for over 12 years, I have worked with many, many title companies and this BY FAR is the worst. On closing day, we found out they forgot to draw our paperwork up in our trust and also the buyers trust even though both parties had provided that information to them when they initially asked. It took two days to fund because of this. We also emailed all of our final water/sewer bills to them in plenty of time for them to be paid, however, we had to call to make sure they were paid as we received a late notice. They paid one bill late so we were penalized with a late fee that was reflected in our refund of funds. We did call them and they refunded the late fee, however, if we hadn't have called them, they wouldn't have. Bad business practice. I would stay COMPLETELY away from this title company. If you do a buy/sell transaction with Howard Hanna, make sure you tell them up front, you don't want to use THEIR title company or you will be frustrated.

Barristers of Ohio LLC reviews GOOGLE REVIEW SUMMARY 5 4 3 2 1 1.8 16 reviews GOOGLE REVIEWS Most relevant Terri Reed Terri Reed 2 reviews 10 hours ago There should be a zero star option. The buyer of my home had a FHA loan and because of this my money was held in escrow because the FHA inspector felt the garage needed to be scraped and painted along with another ridiculous issue. At the time of closing the woman from Barristers had no clue the money was to be held in escrow. We brought it to her attention, but she basically blew us off and blamed someone else. It wasn't until the buyers closing that the escrow was addressed again and then I had to sign an addendum. The FHA upgrades were completed in April and the FHA inspector would not sign off due to paint chips that were embedded in the dirt. The buyers attempted to clean them up..the inspector went out 4 times. It wasn't until after the 3rd inspection that we were told that WE were going to be charged 125.00 every time the inspector went out. Because we were not told about this fee we fought the fees and they waived them. I sent emails and left numerous voicemails to several people with no response other than an email from Jean stating she was a disinterested 3rd party..funny she wasn't disinterested when they held my money. She has caller ID and will pick up the phone and hang up . It took 4 months to get my money from escrow. I will never use Howard Hanna or Barristers and I tell everyone I know how absolutely horrible their customer service is and how inept they are!!

Horrible experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bought my first house - sellers chose to close thru Barristers (listed thru Howard Hanna) - I had no idea about closing/title agencies so signed the offer, proceeded to get the mortgage with zero issues at all. Once I was clear to close - the title company had problem after problem after problem. I ended up having to be in constant contact to even partially get things moving - had to change my closing date 3 times due to their not following up-following thru with things that needed done. Instead of closing mid-December, I closed at the end of January 2018. All due to Barristers mistakes! then, after closing - 3 months later, I find out that they mailed my deed and paperwork to my OLD apartment - even though they handled the closing and knew that I would be residing in my new house immediately - so my deed was out there floating around a while before it was returned as undeliverable... and even after that they didn't contact me for a month to get the correct address. HORRIBLE company!!!

Unprofessional staff! rude to customer

No wonder why all previous reviews are so negative about them! If you are reading this don't consider Barriester's of Ohio for any service!

all they'll give you is *** had appointment with one of the Agent Shadi Taha! what a jerk! went to see the site with him he made me to drive complete opposite direction of the actual site, where I could just stop in between to around actual site! Demanded for check to deposit without disclosing actual papers of property and showed me incomplete papers!

Despite mentioning few times for disclosing papers all I heard was "he is working on it, will send you as soon as he finished with process" took more than 3 weeks just to show me Real papers of property!

just WOW and even detail was incomplete I had to ask again what my lawyer demanded and even he described "this guy can not be serious" he suppose to know how to deal with customer in timely manner! At last with all frustration of title issue had to ask to return check and said I'm not interested making any deal with this guy or with Barristors of Ohio Ever!

Cheryl is the bomb.com

I just closed on a home today. The process was overwhelming because it was a short sale. When I found out that Barristers would handle my closing I went online to read the reviews. They were not good. I was very fearful of the worse. I had even considered changing title companies due to the bad reviews. Home buying can be very stressful if you don't have people looking out for your best interest. Reviews can be very helpful when making decisions. I prayed that my outcomes were not like the previous reviews. My experience was quite the opposite. Well My Lord and Savior assigned Cheryl W. as my Escrow Officer. She's wonderful. She overcame any barrier that presented. She got it done, and made sure I was informed every step of the way! Thank you Cheryl for your AWESOME customer service!!!

That is what the Barristers closing agent said to me on my way out the door! I reported her to the manager there so someone else would know how sarcastic and disrespectful she was to me! I would never use them for anything again! They also could not manage to close it on time! They told me it would be filed after the weekend ! They had no sense of urgency there. They took me to a classroom to sign the paperwork which was strange too! I recently had a closing with a different firm and they were wonderful! THEY did everything right and on time!

TOTALLY FRUSTRATED

Howard Hannah had them do our closing, it took 2 weeks, tons of calls and finally got the code from the seller to the lock box to get our key out to the house we bought. Two weeks to get a key is ridiculous.

Then they had our escrow, we passed the inspection the escrow was being held for and it was almost 4 weeks before the check arrived and it was a partial check. Wanted to know who to send these papers to to get the rest of our escrow which shows we passed inspection and all the calls go to voice mails. There are many different phone numbers for this place and unless you know who your settlement coordinator is you just go in circles. And even at that, the settlement coordinator doesn't call back!

Now I just found out they didn't pay the water bill that the previous owner owed! It was under $30 but they dropped the ball on that one.

I will never again buy a house that insist on us using Barristers again. I would rather walk away from a house than to go through this again.
